Carol Smith

Occupation:

Retired

Taking care of my dog is my “job” now

Member since:

I think it was spring of 2000, but not sure...

I met the LTG at a board meeting, which was my first exposure to Kiwanis. Later a group of Kiwanians came from the mainland to Hawaii. They came to start new club(s). I went to the information meeting with every intention of NOT joining. After listening to their presentation - I joined! They had convinced me. Once people stop bugging my husband to join, after participating like a member - he joined Pearl Harbor Kiwanis Club, too.

I joined Kiwanis when I heard the story of the organization. I have stayed as an active member of Kiwanis because of the children we serve:

Not only our wonderful SLP (Service Leadership Programs) but all the special projects from Kiwanis International as well as our district - California - Nevada - Hawaii.

Positions held:

Treasurer, President (I think 4 times), LTG 2 terms & District Board of Director

History in service:

MYF (Church program for adolescents, Jobʻs Daughters, Vice President of an International School in West Africa, American Legion, Rainbow Arts, Hawaii, Very Special Arts, Pacific Handcrafters Guild, Pres. of PHG Foundation, Relay for Life, Special Olymics and probably more that I canʻt think of right now.

Hobbies & Interests:

Fusing Fine Silver Jewelry, Tie Dyeing, Rock Painting, Fusing Glass and Pottery are my favorites. In the end I like to create.
